Not for you if you have more than one brain cell.

I really don't know where to begin with this pile of detritus. The screenplay is quite the worst I have endured in a long time. Please, if you have any intelligence or descrimination give this a wide berth. This really is absolute garbage. That is all.

there were far worse movies this year
let alone in past 5 or 10

especially named "action"

this one is 1 looker but aint that bad
you just expected too much of it

reply

Yeah. It was bad.

I was calling out the dialog before the words were spoken and predicting the action prior to it taking place. Typical 'Screenwriting 101' crap.

(SPOILER)

Oh . . . they're in a subway. And we know that he took off a woman's head earlier in the elevator shaft so, clearly, he's going to try to take off Costner's head with a subway train but it'll result in Costner throwing him in front of the speeding train instead . . . Yawn. Did NOT . . . see . . . that . . . coming . . . (eye roll).

Not at all. It's at least a 7. It's part of a long list of movies of a certain type which get slagged here because they ain't 'THE DARK KNIGHT' or have people wearing costumes.

It's from a different era: Die Hard, the movies Luc Besson made back when Luc Besson made good movies, Ronin, etc.

People here slag ANY such attempts these days. The latest Jack Ryan. The latest Bourne. etc.

I admit they ain't Citizen Kane, but they are FAR from terrible and I wish IMDBers would dial back the hyperbole a bit so that the ratings were more useful. People who are into this genre probably -would- enjoy this.

I also wish that winning Super Lotto ticket would magically appear on my doorstep.

For some reason it has become fashionable amongst a certain sort of people to slag off Kevin Costner (as well as Tom Cruise). What Kevin has, and is sadly lacking in the majority of today's so-called "stars" is on-screen presence (Cruise has it as well). For me KC is a "proper" film star and I really enjoyed this movie. By the way, there is a lot of humour in it, in unexpected places, but I doubt whether these trolls really noticed that as they were too busy hating KC!.

reply

Costner can still carry a film. Granted, the film has similarities to a Neeson vehicle, but Costner elevated the film to endearing.

And he was the best thing in Man Of Steel.

reply

I agree with you OP...this really is a movie for the people with one brain cell...only those can like this piece of garbage.

I love Costner but even he has to admit this film was crap.

reply

Not a bad film at all, but then again I'm not a pretentious douche

reply

So true.

I stopped watching about 3/4 of the way in....and I love Kevin Costner, a talented and serviceable actor who can always be counted on for a credible performance. But even he could not save this badly edited, badly written, badly plotted mishmash of a spy/family/illness/action story/film.

Don't waste your time on this one.
