am i to take it that juliane moorees character was sexually abused by her mother who is the young girl she hallucinates... please tell me that its not some mother/daughter incest... cause that is extremely horrific... what type of abuse was it ... i realy hope it was just beatings or physical abuse and not sexual otherwise... i think i might throw up
She said very clearly in the tv interview that Agatha was watching while unloading groceries that she was sexually abused by her Mother. It's not unheard of.
First off, Havana was lying about the incest. We don't know if she was abused in other ways. Secondly, why is that worse than any other family member sexually abusing their child?
I just finished watching this movie and as always with David Cronenberg's movies I am still thinking about what I just watched.
I wondered if you're surmising that Havana fabricated the memories or was it mentioned in the movie? I'm sincerely asking.
Re. the movie, I found it a bit "all over the place" especially in the first hour. However, by the end of it, I found it thought-provoking. And a cutting commentary on Hollywood.
It was never explicitly stated, but her expression when she mentioned it made me feel she was enjoying the attention, rather than divulging a painful memory. She'd already shown a singular need for pity and fawning after livingin her mother's shadow. That was my interpretation, anyways. I'm happy to hear evidence to the contrary:)
