dafuq did i just watch?
No seriously...
it was like a bad lsd trip...
Yeah, it was intense.
I've gotta say I'm still not sure about how I feel. It's interesting, but a bit gratuitous, and I don't think it was necessary.
Julianne Moore was great as Havana! It almost feels like she's in a different movie, but I'd watch again just for her performance. It's everything; tough, weak, sad, elated, childish yet able fake being an adult, funny and horrific.
This movie just flat out sucked

You go on imdb to comment on comments?
Ok mate
"You go on imdb to comment on comments?" Good one! And for what it's worth -- succinct, valid, or not -- I'm letting your review be the deciding vote: I'll pass on this, or at least wait a year until it shows up on the freebie list at Amazon Prime.
shareI watched purely because Mia wasikowski is in it and I believe she is a great actress. I actually feel this terrible film could have a negative impact on her career, that's how utterly terrible it was.
sharedid you just ask someone if they go to comment boards to make comments?
shareYes. He IS that dumb.
Even dumber, considering that he thinks that making a film with Cronenberg could hurt Wasikowska's career.
Did you really not get what he meant?
shareNo, silly. Comments about comments.
Reading comprehension is a useful tool.

LOL he can't tell the difference between a review and a comment board
What are they doing? Why do they come here?
Some kind of instinct, memory, what they used to do.
This reply is to your tag-line: I was so disappointed that George Romero didn't come up with a "Twilight of the Dead" instead of recycling "Night of the Living Dead". The original was better and I had been so looking forward to seeing the adventures of "Bud", the zombie Army officer (who was showing signs of real awareness). Sorry to go so far off-topic, but you unintentionally put an old annoyance in my face.

Do you? Lol
shareUmmm..... everyone does, dumbass.
shareIn fairness, these threads are not for detailed reviews. Hence the review section.
Threads are more about wide-ranging things from discussion to opinions - a film-based free-for-all, really. There's even advice about the best mops with regard to the film, Joy (2015).

so did Agatha kill her mother?
i wasn't a fan of this movie, though i kept watching for some strange reason lol
I know!!! Once it draws you in... --->*poof*<--- You're drawn in, and it's all over. You will never see things the same way again!

The best thing about this movie is reading about the value of punctuation. That being said, this movie won't graduate to a 2 star rating. I want to create the world's biggest fondue fork so I can jam it through the heads of the entire cast. Then I want to abandon that concept and roll them into the Great Barrier Reef! The sharks are probably too good to eat them. I am rethinking my nearly lifelong adoration for John Cusack over this movie. This is where I'll end it.
shareFlat out weird.
shareCan' believe it is rated 6. I gave it a 2. One of the most horrible movies I've seen in a while.
shareyeah, so damn right, buddy!!!
shareI was going to reply here but then read through the other replies and realized I was the only one who liked it, so I figure "why bother" when it's just going to invite a lot of vitriolic responses.

I liked it, too. I don't see the plotholes others are mentioning. Compared with Cronenberg's earlier work, it was surprisingly grounded in reality.
Havana's mother is a projection of her guilt, over lying about being sexually abused after her mother died and couldn't defend herself. The hallucination was exacerbated by constant drug use, stress, and Stafford's bizarre "teachings."
The kids had a psychotic disorder of some sort, possibly Schizophrenia (Agatha stops taking her meds, then stops bathing and caring for herself before succumbing to delusions again, Benji starts hallucinating figures that make him feel guilty).
Stafford had a stroke or mental breakdown, causing him to hallucinate his sister wife's death, then he goes catatonic (or dies).
While this is off-topic...Patty you have led an interesting life!
