Was Shanaya Worth The Attention?

Everytime I watch STOY, I cannot help but feel a feeling or irritation at Alia Bhatt and her character. Shanaya is introduced like a great heroine or something like that and she keeps on raving and ranting about designer labels but as the film progresses, we see someone who is essentially an irritating gal. Smugness is written all over her- even when Varun Dhawan (poor chap) tries to make up to her and i guess only Sidharth was the one who can handle her smugness.
Look, I am not a sexist. But just think of it. A smug girl with an air of superiority and self-love who is not very good-looking either. We almost feel tempted to hate her...Yet, KJO is suggesting that Hey Maybe she is not that bad.
