this movie takes place in the 70s?

the rock's character doesn't look very 70ish.

reply

It says 1982 at the start.

oh well the rock's character didn't look 80ish in the trailer. he looked like some guy from the future that went back in time.

reply

Agreed. He looked really out of place in this. Of course this is only one of this movie's problems.

Utah! Get me two.

Poltergeist was playing at the movie theater in a scene. The beginning clearly states that it is 1982. The Rock did not look 1982 at all.

reply

Yeah the Rock was the only one who acted like he was in the 2000's.

reply

They could have slapped a cool mullet wig on him to better fit the times

Rock should've grown out his hair for the role, a mini fro like he had in Be Cool would've been the most appropriate look for his character.

He was channelling Telly Savalas as Kojak, which would have been a trope in 1982.

reply

Yes, shaved heads are something that didn't come around until after the '80s . . . . sheesh.
