are the video games set in the same universe of the films?

so for example does the Daniel Craig era go:

Casino Royal
Quantum of Solace
Goldeneye
Bloodstone (or Bloodstone,Goldeneye)
007 Legends (which consists of)
Moonraker
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Unknown
Unknown
Unknown
Skyfall

Or are the films and games set in different universes?

reply

I'm guessing it goes something like that.

reply

A bit of both, they don't contradict each as other as far as I know, but they also don't acknowledge each other.

When I had my James Bond marathon, I started with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, and then oldest to newest. (I watched Casino and Quantum again after the last Brosnan film)

reply

Maybe.
But as the movies don't mention the games they are kind of separate, well, I know Bond films barely reference each other, but the Bond movies are all closer than the games... kind of. Well thats just how I think of it. But I have yet to play Bloodstone or Goldeneye 007, got the original one. But will be interesting to do it.

It would be cool if maybe the games were all continuations and they made references. Sure they could get away with making references in each game to a previous adventure and the movie.

I think the point of '007 Legends' was to bring the classic Bond films into the Craig continuity in some form. Which is great...cuz we can now imagine that Craig's Bond, after the events of CR and QOS, tangled with the likes of Goldfinger, Blofeld, Hugo Drax, Sanchez and Colonel Moon et all.

But yeah, whether or not its in the strict continuity of the films is open to interpretation.

The "canon" order of the current timeline as far as I understand it:

Casino Royale
Quantum Of Solace
Goldeneye
Goldfinger
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
License To Kill
Die Another Day
Moonraker
Skyfall

reply

Missed out Bloodstone?

So should be: -

Casino Royale
Quantum Of Solace
Bloodstone
Goldeneye
Goldfinger
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
License To Kill
Die Another Day
Moonraker
Skyfall

The force will be with you always...

They kind of ruin it in 007 Legends though, by having a white guy play Felix Leiter. In the Craig universe, Leiter is black!

I think that the adventures Dr No-Die Another Day happen somewhere between QOS and Skyfall in the Craig universe (that's what this game seems to suggest), just slightly differently to how we remember them.
