A more comedic version of the Eastwood classic, had Clint not made that movie Bill's would never have existed.

Yes, Clint Eastwood invented the concept of a young person befriending an old person.

Actually no he didn't. Eastwood did however make a highly successful modern telling of it which producers pounced on, the end result being this watered down version of Gran Torino.

It's a little close….two old bitter war vets who befriend a young boy and find redemption. One's a drama with comedic elements and one's a comedy with dramatic elements.
