I enjoyed it.

I thought the trailer looked funny so I gave it a chance. In my opinion it succeeds in what it set out to do. I was happy to see James Marsters and Luke Perry in it and all the actors were likable. I had a good time and cared for the characters.

There are plenty of very high budget films that I turn off because they have no heart.

This movie has heart.

I enjoyed it mostly for the LOTR gags, like the "Elven" bread and the older brother ragging on the younger one for his costume, shaved body, and affected speaking. It wasn't as funny, IMHO, as Your Highness (which I know lots of people hated, including critics) but that had several actors I really like (and probably a bigger budget but special effects rarely impress me so the cheap CGI in D&D [or YH] didn't bother me... I think I liked it because they were so cheesy).

By the end it did have real heart as well, which is more than the LOTR flicks, which are filled with "cheap sentiment," as Margo Channing would say.

"Most actors only dream of having Maggie Smith compliment their jumpers."

I almost died laughing during the conversation about the accent at the end of the movie. Or how Luke Perry never actually sat on the horse or did action. The number of bits poking fun at the genre is staggering. I'm so impressed with this movie.
