It seemed silly that they gave him that word. It's not that hard of a word to spell. And a lot of people have heard that it's the longest word. "Floccinaucinihilipilification" was a much more difficult word.
... And it actually looks like it's longer than "Antidisestablishmentarianism" (29 letters vs 28 letters). Have I been lied to about the longest word? I don't know who to trust anymore!

Pneumonoultralmicroscopicsilocolvolvanocaniosis was always my favorite growing up.
shareFloccinaucinihilipilification is the longest word in the english dictionary. both Antidisestablishmentarianism and pneumononoultramicroscopicvolcanosilicoconiosis(sp) [a medical term] are not considered the longest words of the English dictionary because those words were made longer with prefixes and suffixes. establishment is the word, 'anti' and 'arianism' are addendum.
similarly, pneumo, volcano, silico, ultra, microscopic, these are all self defining words therefore making the medical term some kind of a portmanteau word I guess.
I remember these from my 5th grade English teacher who was hell-bent on making us learn a foreign tongue. He was too good for me then but I am glad I remember at least parts of his class lectures.
