Great movie, the haters have no sense of humour

My sense of how much I enjoy a movie, warts and all, is how many times I can watch it and still LMAO and enjoy it the same as I did the first time I viewed it.

By that standard, Bad Words is a flat out gem.

Crude, rude, and absolute genius in my judgement, though some of the more uppity and prudish types may be offended by the language. (If they are, however, they're too "nuanced" to notice that its billed as a comedy and the title is, in fact, Bad Words.)

Agreed. I loved this movie.

I agree too. This was a funny, cute little film. Even a feel good one, of sorts. Sure it was offensive at points, but that IS the point. I would have never imagined so many of these occupational IMDB posters would be such uptight poontangs. Hypocrites, even, seeing how they often speak to each other.

But what do I know. I'm just a girl.

reply

Yeah, totally agree. There's too much political correctness around nowadays.

reply

Exactly. The non-PC offensiveness was what made it so funny.

bateman is brilliant at this kind of acting. hes probably my favorite comedic actor today, and hes at his best in this. too many good lines to count

I really enjoyed this movie. It has enough laughs, and his friendship that turns enemy and then back to friendship with the indian kid was well done. The mystery of why he is doing this was a nice slow buildup to a satisfying conclusion. There are comedies where its central plot is only there for the funny shenanigans to occur and its not solid enough on its own. This one was different in that I truly felt invested to understand why he is doing this spelling bee at all. I checked it out for free at my local library just based on Bateman being the star. You can imagine how happy I was to find this as a bluray a few years later at Dollar Tree for one dollar! I agree in that everytime I watch this gem, I am entertained and still laugh : )
