Why is Meera's husband's hand/arm broken?

Strange editing/screenplay in 2nd half. I couldn't understand why Meera's husband took her back without a word and then in the apartment why is his hand/arm broken? What brought on the change in him...

Again, when Gautam and Veronica go to his apartment, he is yet again sporting an injury on his nose, he acts like a jerk one minute, gets beaten up in the process then he is a sympathetic helper the next minute while Gautam is crying like a girl... whats with the always beaten up look and why?

I was like WTF?? What a schizo and confused role!

Oh my gosh, I just finished the movie and wondered the same thing and came here for answers. I thought maybe I missed something. He was so pissed in the beginning when she showed up and then she goes to see him and they start living together?? And he always looks beaten up. Were they trying to portray that he was a loser that needed the money but also had a heart of gold? lol. They should have done a little more character development with him instead of the montages of Gautam stalking her and pining away.

Yeah. I was actually wondering if it was really the husband for a while. Complete turnaround from the beginning of the movie and no explanation given at all.
