I really don't understand. From the first scene the acting was quite bad to me. The music was over dramatic, the plot was predictable, the camera work was basic, basic all around, so I just don't get what's great about this? It seemed like a film student's graduation piece... they probably got an A but yeah, film student that's just graduating.
There were so many things wrong with what you just said it hurt me. The acting was very well done, the music fit the film perfectly, the plot was a bit predictable, but then again it's based off a Edgar Allen Poe story, the camera work was extremely well executed. Also, this wasn't done by someone in film school. This was done by someone with basically his own production company, and all of his works are top notch. It wasn't the best film ever, but it was still very good.
I second that. Ryan Connolly has put out better work than most of hacks who are overpaid to put more garbage in front of us. I would like to see Ryans name on the big screen in the near future.
I agree there are a lot of things wrong with it, particularly the lopsided story, but what it does excellently is launch you immediately into a constant state of fear to the point where even the sight of a woman can horrify you, and the development of the anti-hero main character is excellent.
