Do they really...

...castrate a camel and show the camel's severed parts? I'm interested in this movie and I'm not squeamish, I'm just wondering because the movie is PG-13 and that sounds like an R rated visual to me.

I got that information from the BBFC website's "BBFC Insight" thing. It was rated 12A in Britain.

If they did, I sure don't remember seeing it. There's a confrontation with wild bull camels, but I don't remember any castration. It's a GREAT movie.

I was just wondering because that would be quite something for PG-13. I'm not too squeamish though.

HOWEVER what I am really wondering about is how good the movie is, because there are so many other independent films coming out in the fall that look promising. This looks interesting although I didn't love the trailer. As of now the independent films that I will be seeing this fall are: Love is Strange, Cantinflas (possibly,) Green Prince, St. Vincent and possibly this one.

I've heard some excellent things about "Love is Strange", Shelia O'Malley gave it high praise in her review for Roger Ebert.com. When it comes to "Tracks", I'm anxiously awaiting to see it a second time - it had a very powerful effect on me - I thought it was profound and beautiful. It's not the typical kind of melodramatic, adventure film narrative that some people might be looking for, with crisis following crisis, but if you want something both authentic and poetic with gorgeous cinematography, and a great central performance, you shouldn't miss it. As you might have already read, the film is as much about the young woman's internal journey as it is the external one - they truly reflect each other. Hopefully, you'll be hearing a lot more about it before it's U.S. release.

As a child I often saw dogs mating or horses defecating or urinating in the street. I do not remember it causing me any trauma.

They castrated a camel just before her leaving on her trip. The friendly cameleer had a knife in his hand and he did it in front of her and said it was necessary. Must have been cut out of the American version.

Stop lyin. U just like 2 get off by watchin camel ballz

reply

yes, there is a castration.. although they shot it from an angle that you can't really see the process directly but the person who does it indeed shows the animal's parts
.

reply

I confirm what zcid wrote. They show the actual castration taking place but you can't see anything until they show the castrated animal parts. It was quite shocking and completely unnecessary in the overall context of the movie, in my opinion.

reply

I disagree. The camel would've been rowdy and then the trip would've been delayed or even canceled. But then people would say that she should have just not used camels to do this trip. Guessing this trip would not happen today?

reply

The film is about a damaged and unbalanced person neglecting the welfare of animals. Handle with care! It also fails to explain its subject matter in order to gain a name for itself it doesn't deserve.

Do you have a problem with racehorses being gelded, i.e. castrated?
