Charlie used to be a part of the same troop that Shane Adams was head of(the host of FMJ). Unfortunately due to Charlies actions, Shane and most other jousters quickly stayed away from him. Just Google 'Charlie Andrews fakes being navy seal' and you will get the gist of it all. That is why most jousters on Charlies show are relatively new. None of the experienced guys wanted to work with him after that bs.
Also, the only person on Knights of Mayhem that has actually competed in a world championship was Patrick Lambkie. The rest of them are all fairly new to the sport or, like Charlie, only jousted in small shows for fun. Just like any show, the title 'best in the world' is just to get viewers. Lambkie is the only one on that show who can even remotely accept that title.
Some of the competitions you see on Knights of Mayhem, such as Colorado, used to be much bigger events until the Charlie fiasco. At one time Shane, Ripper and Rob Walker from FMJ, among many others, used to compete in many of those tournaments. But since Natgeo is filming all those tournaments now they have gone down in size. So really Charlie only accomplished making professional jousting an even smaller event so he can feed his own ego. Which I am sure you have seen reveal itself many times during the show lol.
