After many years of loyal service beyond the call, he dies all alone and withered in the snow. The last thing he sees is the fiery inferno of his home. Thank goodness this is not canon. Alfred deserves a much better send off that this.
Well, really, we don't know if Alfred is REALLY dead. It's the comics you know.
I agree. I would rather Alfred have a better send off. But he was WAAAAYYY more than a "servant". In fact, that may be an insult to his character. Bruce became far more greater than he likely would have been if his parents had been around. Alfred got to see that. He lived with the man that was Batman. A lifetime of that speaks for itself.
(Not to belittle the death of one's parents. No disrespect intended.)
Well, if it makes you f guys feel any better, this story really isn't a part of any series in the comics. Frank Miller made this book in the 90s. It was more of a "what if" story. The end you see in the part 2 movie is exactly how the book ended. Nothing continues after it. So really, it is actually separate from the official Batman timeline.
I can't remember if it's in the film, but in the graphic novel he says something like "How absolutely proper" as the house explodes, so it was a fitting end from his point of view.
