Question: What if Alfred... *Spoilers*

As sad as it was, Did anyone else find the timing of Alfred's death a little too convenient? Understandingly so, the massive grief of seeing the Wayne legacy perish could've prompted a stroke, but I feel Alfred almost needed to die as part of Bruce's ultimate plan. Otherwise Alfred would've been held as an accomplice/detained/questioned to no end by the authorities.

My only possible rationales:

1) Alfred ingested some chemical to induce a stroke (not unlike Bruce's heart toxin) to guarantee his death, although this was never overtly addressed. When Alfred said he "knew his part wouldn't be pleasant, but that it fell within his duties", I just assumed he only meant the destruction of Wayne Manor and all the memories.

2) If Alfred hasn't taken any self-inducing stroke toxin, what was his plan after starting the fire? Was he willing to perish in the fire? If so, I guess he 'lucked out' by feeling the signs of a stroke coming on and was able to die (less painfully) outside the manor.

Considering Alfred's unquestionable loyalty/friendship to Bruce, I feel that Alfred would have been willing to comply with either scenario (whether instructed to or not by Bruce).

So... was the death just a coincidence or a premeditated plan? Thoughts?

Coincidence. He had a heart attack.

I should hope if Alfred had not died, Bruce would have had a back up plan to help his loyal friend hide out with the rest of the gang.

Bruce didnt seem too cut up about the fact his oldest and dearest friend died which was probably mostly his fault for putting him through so much stress of seeing the whole building blow up etc

alfred hasnt really had a happy life from what i can tell either lol imagine knowing a loved one was putting their life at risk every night, how would you ever get 1 good nights sleep?!

and then to die due to a stressfull event makes a sad ending to a tough life...

but then again if he did kill himself thats his choice but still a sad way to end your life
