Tom's character was so utterly retarded I assumed he HAD to be in on it

Everything about him was so retarded. easily the main flaw of this film.

Just a typical bloke of his age trying to impress his new girlfriend, as far as I could see. A bit of a prat like many young men of his age. Nothing surprising there.

icebladexi there were moments in the film where I did wonder if he was in on what was going to happen. It made the movie more interesting to watch for sure. As for him being utterly retarded I think you picked some inappropriate wording and it does not fit the character at all.

I was also expecting him to be in on it, he seemed too oblivious and stupid for it to be real.
