Star Ratings Are Important?

It's beginning to become difficult to select movies based on the imdb star rating system anymore.

This is just one of many selections in the imdb library of reviews where too many inconsistencies exist between what reviewers say in their posts, and how many stars they rate the movie as.

One example is an unnamed review that summarizes a fairly lengthy critique by saying that the movie plot is basically empty, yet rates it as seven stars???

I don't know about you but I usually expect films with seven stars to be pretty darn good... At least to have some semblance of a plot that is at least entertaining, not'empty'.

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong; I'd appreciate any veteran reviewers out there readjusting my perspective if I'm off-base on this.
