Yes, I realize it is a British production. I just hate the fact that any movie or television series set in a foreign country is portrayed in English with a British accent (ancient Greece, Middle East during biblical times, ad nauseum).
I find it particularly amusing that Jon Hamm is an American actor playing a Russian doctor speaking English in a British accent. Is he the only actor capable of producing an accent other than his own?
Apparently. I'm gonna follow the recommendation by a user in another thread on this board who said that the russian version is a lot better. I think the humor is too typical british in this show, which is not really my cup of tea no pun intended.
shareI'm so glad that they skipped any fake accents! Accents are only plausible in situations where the characters is supposed to be speaking in another languague than his native tongue.
Since they are not speaking Russian, british English is fine.
I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay.
So you'd be OK if the Russians speak English, just as long as it's with a Russian accent??
shareWhat the heck are you talking about? Jon Hamm quit using a British accent half way through the first episode. It wasn't good to begin with and he abandoned it. I couldn't believe that he did that and they just went with it instead of redubbing the first half of the episode. It was actually funny. Then I came here, to the one place I was sure there would be a 100 people throwing flaming daggers at Hamm for his reckless accent switching and no one even noticed? S
