What did he write in that letter?

It really must have been brutal to upset his mom like that.

My thoughts: Fergie had to put it in a letter. His mother is a narcissist, there is no way she would have sat still for a talk. An uncomfortable letter is like a train wreck, once you start you reading it you have to finish it. If he tried to discuss it verbally she would have laughed it off, tossed some money around and joked about him being overly sensitive.

Admittedly, it is not as black and white as Fergie sees it because she was genuinely upset at the end, the tears had to be real because she didn’t have an audience to perform for. Still, she abandoned her kid and obviously her mother in her final days as well. She did not even remember when his birthday was. The only time it is excusable to abandon a child is when they are literally in too much danger with the parent.

It is TV, I probably took this a little too personally. When I was 11 I had a very similar experience with a parent I hadn’t seen in 5 years. I have always fantasized about doing what Fergie did.

Overall, this is a great series, I am hoping for a third one. There is more reality in this fictional show than there is on reality TV. I only started watching because of Coyle (Mr. Bates), but now I am a fan of the other actors too. Especially Leslie Sharpe and Finn Atkins.

Makes sense, and I believe it's already scheduled for a 3rd
series. Can't wait to see if Gravy gets what he wants ;)

I don't think they have decided yet. I am not optimistic that they will do a third series - The network kept changing the premier date for the second series, and bounced it around - They did virtually no publicity for it - They moved scheduled repeats from primetime to early am hours, very strange for a family show - It is like the Sky One tried to damage their own product. Now I am reading (cannot substantiate) they told the folks that run the Starlings2012 twitter account that they may not even put S2 on DVD. If the latter is true that especially does not bode well for S3.

I very much want to be wrong. I love this little family. I like the dialogue, their relationships, their loveliness, and their faults.

What I would like to see: clearly the outcome of Gravy's sudden decision, maybe an American daughter in law at the dinner table - a wrap up on Charlie's injury, that was one thing that disappointed me, it isn't realistic that her parents, especially dad, never cornered her on why she just gave up on her life's dream just as it was coming true - Jan going through the process of writing an publishing a children's book - I want to see more heart problems, they can be subtle, I would not expect another heart attack, but apparently the character has had a chronic condition for years and the heart attack would most certainly have made it more tenuous, that would effect the whole family, not just Terry - Loz swallowed his Dad's (helped by Terry) description of his mom, I think that might have been enough for him to search her out and he may try to find her and end up horribly disappointed, I think he is a vulnerable guy anyway - more on Fergie and his mom, she is not a good person, but there was some reason she was crying - definitely more Rodney - Grandad and Molly start competing at ballroom, or taking the dog for walks in the park - I love everything Terry\Jan, Terry\Charlie, Charlie\Gravy, it would be nice to see more Gravy with his parents. Based on his final scene that would make sense.
