Not sure about Josh and Arnold

I feel like I'm "supposed" to love them as a couple but, as of now, I just ... don't. Does anyone else feel that way? Yes, I think that Josh is more compatible with Arnold than he was with Geoffrey or Patrick, but ... for some reason I'm not sure how much Josh is really into Arnold. I guess the last scene of season 2 was supposed to show that but I still don't know.

I guess I'm just not a huge Arnold fan. People say that he is adorable and I can see that, but I don't really see a romantic connection between him and Josh. My guess is that they might make Arnold a bit more "normal" in the next season so that their relationship can develop in a different way. I'm just not a huge fan of them as a couple at the moment ...

I agree with you, I think I liked Josh with Geoffrey the best once he got over his initial apprehension about outing himself. Patrick was the worst - I thought he was a pretty despicable character in general, actually!

I found it really interesting that, in the first episode of this season, Josh's Mum basically verbalized my exact thoughts/doubts about Arnold. Josh also expressed his doubts in that episode.

This show is just so sharp: they create complex characters and then they underscore the fact that the characters are complex.

I love them together. They force each other to grow I think... Josh has been getting Arnold out of his comfort zones and Arnold seems to make josh actual care and try. I dunno. Plus I love the scenes with Arnold just for his expressions.

I don't like Arnold much either, which isn't helped much by him being a completely different character in Season 3 than he was in Season 2. I suppose that's meant to be his development after leaving hospital, coming out and becoming more confident, but the levels of difference are pretty extreme. I find him the least likeable of all of Josh's boyfriends and crushes.

I actually think they have great chemistry but there is something kind of forced about them. It's like they're trying too hard to seem like they're in love. As someone that hates PDA I really wish there weren't so many scenes of them eating the face off each other!

I am an Arnold fan and think the guy that portrays him his a brilliant actor, but I would take a guess that he'll probably leave Josh by the end of the season.

How about when he said to Josh something to the effect of, "If I find someone better than you, then that's just tough". I mean, I guess this was meant to be brutally honest? I don't know. Not what I would want to hear from my partner, anyway!

I love Arnold but the last episode was tough. The whole conversation wasn't very enjoyable. I just wonder how it will unfold. Arnold had a panic attack when Patrick kissed Josh during the 2nd season. Maybe the open relationship thing will change throughout the rest of the season

Yes, that's a great point about him having had a panic attack after Josh and Patrick kissed last season. I hadn't thought of that. As I've said before, I am lukewarm at best toward Arnold, so that conversation made me grind my teeth haha. I suppose you could say, "at least he's being honest", but ...

I guess the point was also to highlight the challenges with open relationships. They might seem great on paper, but there are actual people with emotions involved, so it's not that easy in reality (I would imagine).

I was sooo disappointed in this last episode (Puff Pastry Pizza), with Josh buying into the whole promiscuous gay man stereotype. Not all gay men are gagging for sex all the time such as they have to resort to casual sex while in a relationship - Josh why would you do that to dear Arnold?

I thought they'd decided to be exclusive then I thought I'd missed something re. they broke up but no - Josh mentions to the hook-up that he has a boyfriend and asks if the hook-up does, like that's normal! I think Josh is turning out to be not that nice of a person, to be honest!

Why have a boyfriend at all then, Josh - get the experimentation out of your system first! I think Josh Thomas, as the writer and sometime director, just wants to write in as many hook-ups as possible for his own amusement...

I think you said in another thread that you missed an episode? Because Arnold was very clear that he wanted an open relationship, that monogamy was an outdated social construct that didn't work in any event, blah blah blah. Then he capped it off by saying that, if he found someone better than Josh, then too bad so sad. It would be quite ironic if Josh found someone "better" than Arnold ... at least he can have a meaningful conversation with this other guy. For what it's worth, I thought the latest episode was great - one of my favourites this season.

Next time, you should really watch ALL the episodes before going on a ranting spiel.

A little necrophilia never killed anyone.
