For anyone who wants to be honest

I had just heard about this film from a top 10 list on Sight and Sound and while I realize they push the artsy movies, that's usually my thing. To be honest, this film is normally the kind I love, but everyone hates. This time, i just couldn't do it. I have fallen asleep during 5, maybe 6 movies in my entire life and I fell asleep during this one twice.

The first part is an utter waste of time. Yes, I realize it sets up something, but not really. The second felt like a faux documentary and I felt that the director missed the opportunity of going the second half in color, to accentuate the landscape. Maybe that's too cliche or too Hollywood.

I just never liked a character in it and the dialogue held nothing and I truly mean nothing. There was no chemistry between any of the actors and while my lids became so heavy after the second nap, I finally shut it off. Only twice have I done this in two years...the other being Mr. Turner. A visual feast (and I adore Turner's work), with absolutely not a single interesting moment.

So here's my question....what did you like about the style, the filming, the acting. I'm not talking about the substance of the film, because some may very well have pulled something personal out and that's not for me to argue. Also, if you did like it, did you know it was revered by critics before you loved it, or did you go in expecting greatness?
