I question this shows authenticity in general like is the people he talks to about diggin in their yard pre-arranged by producers or something. People must see the cameras and all the people that are shown that turn him down have to sign a release form to be shown on tv... After they slam their door in his face? They never ask Hey Big guy what the F are all these cameras for? And when they see the cameras dont play along. I guess my point there is.. There willing to sign a wavier to be seen on the show being a a- hole slamming a door in his face but nice enough to simply hear his proposition.
All that aside. I disagree with you two, respectfully. You guys make it sound like he knocks on the door and says "hey mind if i wave my metal detectors around your yard and split the profits 80/20 split. Lol thats not a very realistic depiction. He knocks on the door and says hes a artifact recovery expert. He has information and believes there may infact be artifacts or relics buried in their property. Its easy to watch it and say who would do that? I'll just go and buy a metal detector and find it myself, but you wouldnt. Especially if u had no idea what to look for and how to find it. He doesnt say he's just gonna waive metal detectors. He also uses more than metal detectors. Like radars, cranes, bobcats. I dont think anyone would go buy or rent these things after turning him down and attempt to find it themselves because... Its a pretty expensive cost for a hunch and they dont have the knowledge of what to look for. Lets say someone actually did though. After Rick left they went out and rented these things. And they end up pulling old crusty things outta the ground. Thats all they are to them. They would have no idea what their holding, how much it's worth and where to sell the some old dirty toilet shaped looking thing and probably just end up throwing it away. Theyve snorkled to the bottom of a lake and pulled out a cannon before. Who the F would do that, not knowing it was even down there to begin with. So i'd say hes a bit of a expert and one would have to be pretty stupid to even try or consider doing it on their own. Every episode has alot of metal detectors but thats the simplest of all their tools.
The 80/20 split i think is reasonable. He has alot of overhead just in gas alone. If he has to use any of the other tools or rentals i was talking about, he has to cover that. Thats expensive as hell! Plus living and eating on the road is expensive! Hotels, eating out,etc especially a giant like that and his wife. The kids probably dont eat much. I bet the kids get a 80/20 split with him from the giant crumbs they find on the hotel room carpet that fall from his mouth.
The 80/20 split is a fair deal when u take some of these things into account. 20% for doing absolutely nothing and being completely ignorant of how to find these things themselves. Remember he doesnt say waive metal detectors. If he knocked on my door and did his spiel, id imagine something like a excavation site of some kind, like when paleontologist do when looking for dinosaur bones. Id say no because i dont want him fking up my yard. But if he said hes insured and will make sure everything will be return to its natural state after, id say what the hell... Sure i love free money. You mean to tell me i can just sit on my porch and eat chicken wings in front of you and your gonna pay me? You got a deal partner! Then id spit on my foot and shake his hand with it.
As far as calling the police and having him arrested... One would have to be the biggest slimiest douchbag to pull a stunt like that. I mean... only a motherless turd with the morals and honor of a street hooker would so something like that. They could lie and tell the police that they were stealing and try... TRY to get them arrested but then he could show them the contract and the officers would know there not stealing, they were given permission and that the home owners are actually scumbags trying to pull one over on him. But lets say the officers are retarded and do arrest him. O.j. Simpson could be his legal representation and get the charges dropped. O.j. Simpson again could represent him in civil court for breach of contract and sue the piss outta of the home owners. They have a signed contract of a 80/20 split of whatever they pull outta the ground. Whats hard to understand about that? Please tell me what im missing? Or why that wouldnt hold up and they can be charges with "theft".
But all of this is pointless because the show i think is rigged. And the comments above are crudely and dramatically simplistic. Is there some kind of new hillbilly back woods courtroom show i dont know about? Is there a new courtroom show with a tranny street hooker as a judge? I mean... come on guys.

This show is as real as Auction Hunters, i am betting all the items found was planted there weeks or months back by the program makers, think about it what are the chances of them finding items like they do in every single show, they make the money by bring in the show, it as nothing to do with reality most reality shows are a con not real.
Others shows that are largely fake is pawn stars and American Pickers as the program makers in American Pickers visit the people weeks before hand and pick out and buy the items that mike wolf then finds, mike and is mate also only drive in the van when there filming the show.
