Fckin rude, ignorant American neighbourhoods

This guy Rick is loud, yes, but asks for their permission calmly and respectfully, with manners.

What does he get back? The most arrogant, pig-ignorant trash with no manners, even wielding guns (disturbingly) on occasion, then the Police acting like arrogant, nasty nazis in one episode??

God help America...

Its a TV show nothing more, reality as very little to do with these type of show, so take every thing you see on the program with a very large pinch of salt.

I like the show for its historical interest, but as a Brit I have to say it does nothing for our perception of the average US householder. I hope it's simply dramatic scripting, but if not some folk come across as ignorant, gun-toting rednecks who seem to take offence with someone for simply knocking on their door. Ric Savage does everything correctly, but they still act as if he's suggested he come in and rob them blind.
Is it the fear some Americans have that everyone outside is a potential robber or killer ?

It would only take them a minute or two to hear him out then if they don't like the idea of a wad of cash for no effort just politely say 'no thank you'.
