Shame on SyFy

OK we all know not to expect much from SyFy when it comes to quality movies. But this movie was especially bad. The special effects look like they hired the director's 5 year old nephew to draw the spiders. The acting was about as believable as a 3 dollar bill. Not to mention they must of spent a whole $100 and a 12 pack of beer to hire actors since they really pulled some washed up talent. Tracy Gold? Edward Furlong? Ethan Phillips? But the writing was abysmal it was hard to tell which was worse. I have read bathroom walls with better plot and character development. Everyone involved in this movie should hang their head in shame.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

This actually made the Piranhaconda look good! Oh this spider movie was awful. The acting if you could call it that was horrible. I'm sure everyone was cheering when that women who was "hysterical" on the boat and made it crash got thrown off and then attacked by spiders.

My biggest question is, why do they keep making this crap? I am a huge horror fan and I particularly love creature type movies. They have good ideas ( with the exception of the mutant crap like Piranhaconda), yet they never deliver!!

The acting is usually horrible with washed up actors like Tracey Gold and Edward Furlong..don't even get me started on how creepy he was...and horrible CGI.

Bad on all accounts and this was one of the worst. It is kind of sad too because I was looking forward to this until I saw the previews. I still tuned in and gave up after about 20 mins.

They keep making them because you keep watching it. I personally love their Saturday night 'bad monster movie' reputation. Get some intoxicated people together with some pizza and these kinds of movies and you have yourselves a fun night...

"dude i dont care i just love this movie you guys have a realy taste in movies what wrong with you"

reply

I don't usually watch them. I only attempted to watch this one because of the spider theme...you would have to be drunk to watch this mess. I prefer to watch things that I wouldn't have to be intoxicated to enjoy...

I'm used to the bad SyFy original movies but this steaming pile of blank takes the cake. The "writing" for this thing makes Plan 9 from Outer Space look like Lawrence of Arabia. I am a huge fan of "B" horror movies but this thing is really stretching it. could the upcoming "Bigfoot" be any worse?

I seems to me that, judging by the numerous comments here, a great many people that rubbish low-budget flicks like this spend a lot of time watching the SyFy channel, and my question is this:- If everyone believes that the vast bulk of product aired on SyFy is apparently so dreadful, why do you all spend so much time watching them?

reply

Did you read my 3 year old post before you replied to it? I clearly stated that I enjoy B-movie sci fi. I even enjoy many of the syfy original movies because they fall into the "so bad it's good" category. However, this particular movie does not fall into that category. It is just bad.

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

They don't make most of them. They seem to buy the rights to low-budget independent movies. Many of them are made/produced in Eastern Europe (as well as in Canada).

They are inexpensive so Syfy probably earns a profit on them. I guess you could say that they harm the overall reputation of the network, which could affect their other shows. There might be something to that. Then again, it could be their way of keeping alive the cheesy side of science fiction, the creature features and afternoon movies that have been a part of movie and TV sci-fi history. Creature from the Black Lagoon, Elvira, The Blob, etc.

I'm not saying that I agree with the decision to have all these schlocky movies. Just trying to figure out why Syfy keeps airing them.

A couple of them have actually been decent. Not outstanding, but at least watchable. The pterodactyl movie was entertaining, and not because of unintentional or intentional humor. "Tasmanian Devils" (with a cameo by Apolo Ohno) was also watchable. Not great, but I thought it worked fairly well as a modest-budget TV horror movie.

Many of them are boring, and only a few fit into the "so bad it's good" category.

SyFy will find a way to do even worse next time!

And this stinker is set to air again on July 1st.

Wish me luck everybody, getting ready to watch it now...we'll see how much of it i can take, I only dvr'd it cause my wife is scared of spiders!
Anyways, this is totally unrelated but I was hoping someone here could help. Been trying to find a movie I saw on syfy about 5-6 years ago, best I can describe it is in the beginning some people go to some basement (in mexico i think) and walk in on a cult or something killing someone, but the whole town drowns, and they cut to years later and it's still under water and strange things are happening in the water. I dont know if it was a syfy production or not, hope that "description" helps somewhat. Hope someone knows cause I fell asleep on it but it seemed kinda cool at the time was hoping to watch the whole thing sometime.
Thanks in advance!

Ma'am, we didnt find any boy....Then he's still there..

reply

I can't imagine anyone would remember that but don't worry.

SyFy will have another stupid movie soon enough!

reply

Haha!! I get it, trust me I do....I just wanted to see the rest of it since I saw the beginning.

Beneath Still Waters

Everyone has a photographic memory
...some just don't have any film.

The problem is, SyFy does not know the word "SHAME" Rofl.

reply

This is awful. OMG, could Tracey Gold and Eddie Furlong look any worse. They're painful to watch in this.

Overall, bad acting, bad CGI, bad everything. One of SyFy's worst yet.
