There's a lot of bashing about Pioneer Woman on this message board...

And, I HAVE to agree!

It's not just her show, it's her blog too. I admit, I genuinely like a lot of her recipes. However, I can't stand her SILLINESS! Why can't she just present a recipe without all of the comments, which are NOT cute, but just downright annoying!

I was at my sister's house this weekend and she had this on... ugh, I cannot stand this woman's voice and the way she talks. I remember one show where she said something like "I'm going to show you how to cook "something' and then we'll wash the dog. 
Really? If I want tips on washing the dog I'll watch Animal Planet or Dog Whisperer. Not a show on the Food Network. 

Knock if off Napolean make yourself a dang quesadil-la!

and the way she talks

Ikr. It's how she talks and continuously smiles at the same time. It's like do one thing or the other.

She's a 50 year old sorority girl.

Honestly, what annoys me most is the "I'm just like you" routine. She's married to a millionaire. She lives on a 20,000+ acre ranch. She's a TV star. Woman, you aren't like 99% of the people of Earth. You are as down home to me as an African village. And I live on a midwest ranch.

Yes, yes yes yes yes. I 1000% agree.

It also drives me nuts that her opening (and persona... and blog... and books) mentions how she's an "accidental country girl."

Girl, you were born in Oklahoma. It's not like you were born and raised in Los Angeles and were dropped out of a plane onto a farm.

reply

So everyone born in Oklahoma is 'country'? I have some OK friends that would disagree with that assessment, however they do love OK and would not live anywhere else.

I live in Wisconsin and was born in Illinois. I'm pretty darn suburban, but some in WI are VERY country. All depends on the area.

What I can't stand are all the people that leave comments on her blog just KISSING her ass and telling her how wonderful she is.

"Well that ship has sailed"

I don't hate her or anything, but I do think she tries too hard, and it's annoying. I don't think her family and friends seem as enthused to be on there as she does. I think they'd rather not be on there. I was watching the episode where they were fixing up the building downtown, and they unveiled the finished product toward the end, she was being overly showy about it, and making a big production of it, and they were all looking at her like she had lobsters crawling out of her ears or something. It was so obvious that she was acting like that because the cameras were there.

eh, the show is ok, I watch only occasionally since she can be annoying. most of the recipes seem unhealthy with lots of canned shortcuts, but a few came out pretty good. however, please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, do not buy her autobiography. I stupidly did, thinking her story might be interesting. should have looked over her website first to get a general idea.

story of little substance, style resembling teenage romance novels, with page upon page of suggestive, repetitive hugging, kissing, and of course extolling soon-to-be husband's virtues. The picture is of a shallow, insecure, self-absorbed woman, name-dropping clothing labels for every date, worried about what she wears, how she smells, what she sounds like … It’s not enough that we are bombarded on a daily basis by brand-name advertising – she has to sneak brand after brand into her book – I wonder if she was paid for this marketing?

The book has nearly 5 stars on Amazon, and i think this is a scary reflection of our society. I want my brain cells back.
