Shame

This was basically a home movie, but the concept was brilliant. The problem was obviously, due to the budget, real actors, real makeup and real camera crews weren't available. That, combined with an awful script left us with something terrible. What I don't understand was the length. This could have been a much more effective movie at 70 minutes than it was at 100. This will be stolen or remade and it should be. Get rid of the gimmicks like the mask and the VHS tape and make it about the brother. I was highly disappointed, but can't blame the effort.

My feelings exactly. I really wanted to like this movie, but the execution was so poor for how great the basic conceit was. There's a certain level of amateurishness that I can forgive on a low budget movie, but some of the really subpar technical qualities were hard to get past, and the problems in the script were not excusable at all.

I often think about this movie, but I the good 'can't stop thinking about a movie' kinda way. More of a 'damn, what a missed opportunity' way.

Not that it changes my feelings, but IMDB says the film was made on an estimated $8000 budget. So it was basically made on someone's phone, haha. I have a feeling with a little more experience and budget, it could have been something more.

its amazing how effective it was with so little budget compared to mainstream failures.

I agree with you somewhat. I don't think the script was terrible tho.
I think the parents were horrible actors but I think the younger brother did a decent job.
I like low budget horror. Usual what I like isn't what's playing in theaters.
I think if a big Hollywood studio got hold of this it would be tamed down. Probably for a PG13 rating
I do agree tho that the film could have used some editing. About 20 min cut
But I still enjoyed it as a weird screwed up film I happened to come across for free on Hulu and got to see for free
