Was there a point?

Having watched the documentary, I'm confused why it was made. It just seemed to consist of Bush 41 rambling on about generalities in his life. Things just sort of happen to him (life of privilege will do that, I guess). But I can't believe that's how it actually was... surely he had to do SOMETHING besides be born into the right family, to earn his appointments.

On the one hand, it's great to have a living ex-president speaking in his own words about his life and presidency, but this one is as clear as mud. His words are spoken with such a disconnected lack of interest, as if he merely dreamt it...

Frankly, I found it a waste of my time. I actually expected to learn something.

Is this a bit of the producers/directors of the film as they really could have spent more time asking his Presidency and his two elections? Or being the father of another President. Or why he did not go after Saddam Hussein. (I agree Sr. did the right thing but it might have cost him 92.) Or really being the President during the thawing of the Cold War and how he kept the US safe and out of war while the Evil Empire crumbled. Or what was it like working with Reagan for 8 years and what he took from it. The producer and director seemed to think the viewers needed more stories about watching old ladies taking showers and his love of dogs. Good, bad or indifferent his Presidency will likely become a modern 'Taft' being bookended by both Reagan and Clinton terms. And unfortunately, it took a subject of relatively underrated Presidency and did not seem to make a place for him.

The PBS American Experience is much better series at placing the subject in a place in history.
