would have been better if...

....they didnt go in the direction of him being innocent.

During the 1st episode, i thought it was going to be a 'Boy A' style drama about the rights and wrongs of prisoner release. I thought it would pose questions like Should life mean life, how free is he now he's out, should he have any rights, how reformed is he etc etc

instead it went with standard wrongly accused man plot.

And the romance came from nowhere!

It would have been interesting if they'd just done a straight drama about how a guilty man adjusts to life outside, but I still enjoyed it.

I think that would have been better; or if it had ended with him back in gaol still protesting his innocence leaving the viewer to guess whether he was lying and if so who did it... the actual ending felt as though the writer couldn't decide how to end it and realised he only had five minutes to think up a conclusion that didn't involve changing what he'd already written! A shame as I thought it was really good until the end.

I'm only going to say this once: stay out of Camberwick Green - Sam Tyler

Would have been better if it hadn't been aired at all. Horrible, infuriating little tick was a walking disaster area. And I guessed from his first appearance who the real perp was.

agreed. the wrongly accused and romance plot were unecessary. the whole realm of probation officer and offender was more than enough to go on. plus the victim family story could have had more flesh added to it too.

the first episode was quite good. especially the acting. reading the comments, im surprised it went in that direction.
