Wasn't it too stupid to have him 24/7/365 with wide open eyes? Eyes dry up within minutes and they want us to believe his eyes were constantly open? I get the dramatic effect, but how are we supposed to suspend our disbelief over that?

So it is quite feasible that his eyes are not dry despite being open for long periods of time if he is being treated correctly. Some comatose patients', eyes are open even though they are unable to speak or react, it is a different level of consciousness.
