This looks like an Asylum film but....

....with better actors, cgi, cinematography and everything else. Very misleading with a title like Robot Overlords but I am still very keen on seeing this.

You're wrong, streaming it now... Even before I got here, knew it was a British production; very unfortunate. :-/

It's kind of a wasted opportunity, because the script is somewhat original; then the introduction of the young actors; and also the leads. The film makers thought they have "the formula" & that's how most of it is made - except that it looks like a film-school project; or a student film, if you like, more or less.

It's always such a bummer (as with Doctor Who, for example), because there are many interesting (& different!) ideas, but when it comes to the British production... Somehow, unless it's drama (or something that they're used to), it always ends-up (way) below average: some details in dialog, the plot devices are child-like (the American ones are ridiculous and the French ones are without much sense, in comparison; however, they WORK - while this, rly, doesn't; meh); & there's (loads) moar.

You think only hollywood can make lordy of the rings movies?

There are great scifi movies from many countries. Only that the US makes more of them. Even Russia had some great ones like inhabited islands. Spain had eve. Japan had yamamoto and almost every country pretty much had a hollywood quality scifi movie out in the last few years. One of the main problems with hollywood is they are not different, they always extrapolate US culture and folklore into things even if you dont notice it. But when you watch movies from other countries you will feel the itch of why is there not more arrogance and ignorance. like in battleship

Do you feel better having gotten that out of your system?

I did get more a bit of a late 80's BBC kid's television show feeling.
Not necessarily a bad thing, just not something i would choose to watch. Did let me get fooled by the big names and the the title/synopsis.
