I dont understand the humor

I liked the first season of the show, i thought it was hilarious, and i think the second season has even more potentially funny situations however, im having problems with the second season that is ruining it for me, maybe for you.

The biggest problem i am having is the whole divorce/child situation. In my opinion humor is misery from a distance in many instances. meaning someones pain is funny so long as it is not something i can relate to in my personal life that is painful for me. However, the "running gag" in this show about his wife that he still loves and child constantly wanting to get further and further away from him is just not that funny of a gag. I mean we all have had heart break, me trying to relate to the character while understanding the suckiness of the situation doesn't make me laugh. maybe it does for you?

Another thing is that things need to have resolutions, and it seems the resolution for this show will be in the negative, which is fine except it doesn't bode well for a character that I have grown to like. It seems the only resolution that could happen is that he will leave the show, which makes the story fight against itself, its saying that the only way for the show to resolve itself is for it to end. It would be like Big Bang Theory writing itself in such a way that the only way the season could end was for everyone to move out and never talk to eachother again, essentially you force the show to end and be unrecoverable.

The show was about reviewing life and silly things would happen in doing it, which is funny. I don't know why it went from that to about how the show is ruining Forest's life, which is fine if things work out in the end, but since it doesnt seem to work out then it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, so to say. What do you think?

okay... kind of a pointless comment.

I find it funny when Forrest suffers. If you understood his character at all, you'd know that a "negative" ending is almost inevitable at this point. Review is a tragicomedy.
