What does the show's support staff actually do?

There's the co-host, producer, secretary, and intern. The intern tagged along if not also helped with some segments and the secretary was a getaway driver once, but what do they & the others really do? Someone sorts through the viewer suggestion but that wouldn't take much & they did a shoddy job of it. There were time when Forrest was gone for weeks & thus there was no show to produce. Might Grant & AJ work on other things?
