Rated R animation... I like it. First of its kind?

reply

Nah, there have past R rated animated films. Not a whole lot, but they do exist, ever heard of Ralph Bakshi?

reply

Southpark: Bigger, Longer, Uncut was the last American R-rated animated movie that I remember. And I think someone already mentioned Ralph Bakshi... who made the first X-rated cartoon with Fritz the Cat.

In Japan, there are numerous movies that would be rated R if shown here... Akira, Ghost in the Shell for example.

Not really the first of it's not nor was Family Guy was.

Ever seen Fritz the Cat, American Pop, Heavy Metal, Felidae, Hey Good Looking', South Park The Movie, Ninja Scroll, Pink Floyd The Wall, Akira etc.?

Can't wait.

Like many people said some parent will let them watch it cause its a cartoon....you would think that an overprotective parent would look at the MPAA ratings and/or realize that if you have to show your I.D. to buy tickets to cartoon its probably not rated PG or G. Regardless I think it looks funny and will watch it at some point.

reply

Unfortunately, most parents nowadays are stupid and too permissive.

I work at a major store where parents have no clue why a movie or video game is rated the way it is. They just purchase whatever their child wants, because their friends have it. Last time I checked, "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" was an arrestable offense.

"You want to rent Mortal Kombat b/c all your friends play it? Ok."

--Uhm, that was in the 90s, so it's not a new thing for parents to overlook or be laidback about such things. Never would've seen T2 if my parents had been completely anal about R ratings and that movie was EPIC!

 me.
