Not a masterpiece but I thought it was pretty good
It was worth watching once. It's cool to just hear the various celeb voices show up in it and had some funny stuff going on.

shareWell, it was okay. Animated movies aimed specifically at adults most generally suffer from the exact same problem, and you unintentionally nailed it:
It was worth watching once.
I thought this was good fun. Some great crass jokes, and the scenery was VERY cool and inventive. Absolutely worth 90 minutes and some beers.
shareYeah the visuals really saved it I think. The writing had a few funny moments (mostly due to the voice talent of Swardson, who I thought did very well with the material he was given), but mostly it was mediocre. However the animation was fun enough that the movie was worth watching once. That and the voice talent in general I suppose.
I don't think i'd ever watch it again though.

I agree, it was way more fun than the complainers made it out to be.
All the people saying they'd only ever watch it once, well that applies to nearly every movie. Watching a movie all the way through a second time is dullsville.
It was alright, although it kinda came to a halt once the Orpheus character shows up. The film's main problem is that its lead characters are written incredibly thin, with no arc to speak of. The stop-motion was great, Odenkirk killed it as Satan... but that's all that stands out.

It was like somebody intentionally tried to write an unfunny film.

At first it was just really lame, I don't think I even chuckled at any of the jokes for the first 15-20 min. But it got better and funnier as it went on.
