Hated the ending

Anyone else thought that the ending could have been better?
I felt as though a young girl's dreams were shattered in order to make the confused husband and wife realize how much they loved each other at the first place.
Anyone else thought Manu is the most confused person in the world?
I loved Kushum's character and was really heart-broken by the ending.
Nevertheless a very entertaining movie.

I thought it was a gutsy and well-played ending. Certainly made my jaw drop.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.

Totally agree. I saw the 1st one just last week to prepare for this one as well. TWMR is So Much Better it's not even funny.
BUT yes, I agree. Manu had so much more chemistry with Kusum in any one single scene of TWMR than with Tanu in the entire TWM movie.

Agreed
I actually disliked the whole melodrama in the last 25 minutes or so.

Did IQ's just drop sharply while i was away?

Yes. I was totally let down by the ending. I just came back from watching the movie.

You make the viewers love a character so much and root for them, and then you shatter their imagination. What kind of film-making is this? Datto was such a strong character and level headed, whereas Tanu came off as bitchy at times. So a girl can and will go to the extent of sending you to a mental asylum and you go back to the same girl! Way to go! Wow! What a man you are! No dignity, no self respect!

Only married couples will like the climax, because after four years of marriage in India no couple would be able to stay away from each other for long, unless their hatered for each other is much stronger that their love.

Love is like a game of Chess, One wrong move and you are........ married!!

the ending was perfect. Manu was using Kusum as a rebound replacement for his wife. Kusum was young and impressionable, and the implication was that Manu would be able to mold her into a "better" version of Tanu. Kusum deserved better than that. Tanu and Manu are both messed up and they deserve each other.

I saw this one before TWM and yes this one was much better--funnier, better songs and the acting was great. I just didn't care for the whole Komal kidnapping thing-that was weird.

100% AGREED!

I was coming on here to post a thread about this (and may still do so) but since you already have, I must say that I heartily agree.

A quick briefing: I never saw the original but my wife dragged me to this (she liked it a lot) but from what I saw the movie was ok. Funny in parts but very obnoxious at times (more on that in the next couple of paras) and like most Indian films, very muddled and unfocused. It felt liek they rushed the movie in order to meet a release date. Overall an average movie. But the lead girl was very good in her double role and the other cast members were pretty good too.

But the film had one fatal flaw which is why the ending sucked. I COULD NOT STAND TANU!

She was a horrible person and character yet she did not get her comeuppance at the end. She was an obnoxious and repulsive witch so I was glad at the end when she was getting ditched but then suddenly out of nowhere he opts for her over the much sweeter and more genuine village girl.

At least they could have given the village girl a genuine romance with the gangster character (who was after all engaged to her or was a 'rishta' for her).

Horrible ending. And as much as I enjoyed some of the film, there was a hint of feminazism in it which left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth.

Just my thoughts.

I didn't hate the ending but it was something that I was expecting.
It would have been unfair to Kusum because as far as Manu was concerned, she was just a replacement for Tanu. Another chance for Manu to love the same girl hoping that after 4 years, things would not turn out the same as they did with Tanu.

Also, read the title again: Tanu Weds Manu Returns. They were expected to married again (after the divorce).

Agree with mmathur5689 's answer.

Kusum did not deserve Manu.
She was sweet, brave and adorable.
She deserved better.

The movie was good and funny.
The ending was heartbreaking especially after Manu assures Kusum at the pre wedding night of his decision. "Rest Assured. I will marry you."

When I saw the ratings, I thought this will be a trend changing and gutsy movie.

But no. Just like the movie 'Cocktail', even here, the ending was made to be ACCEPTABLE TO INDIAN Society.
I did not like that one bit.

Thats just my opinion.
