Question about the Language

I noticed that there were several instances in which people switched from the native language (Urdu?) to entire phrases/sentences in English. This happened both in relatively informal settings (such as the Consultant speaking to his patient and the lawyer speaking to her client) and in the formal setting of a female MP addressing the national assembly.

Is this a relatively widespread practice in Pakistan, or some of its regions?

Many thanks.

Any help please?

Remember is a nation once part of India ruled for centuries by the British. Even in India it is common for people to speak in Hindi and switch to English in one conversation.

Haven't seen the doc as yet but yes it is natural

Yeah, I'm Pakistani and English is pretty commonly used, mainly in cities and all. And also switching from one language to the other isn't strange, we do it all the time by using English words or just you know, talking in the other language. Most people speak in English/Urdu.

Belated thanks to you both for your help; much appreciated
