Julie Adams

I know Julie Adams and she really is as genuine and generous as she appeared. I have to wonder, however, why the film seemed to portray her as the owner of that large farm? In reality, she works there in exchange for a home where she can live with her many rescue dogs. (Note: the owners are good people and are also strong proponents of animal welfare.)

But Julie's quite impoverished and scrapes for every dime--sacrificing her own food, health care and everything else to make sure every single dog is altered, vaccinated, well fed and cared for. Maybe the producers thought it would distract from her very poignant childhood memories if they showed her current struggles.

Maybe the producers wanted to leave her dignity intact. Maybe you should have also.
Most poor people(with dignity)don't like it advertised that they're poor.

reply

Totally true. I just worry about her.

Then delete your post. It makes her sound like a indentured servant.

Perhaps the owners of the farm chose to not be the focus.

Her story, so far, moved me the most. Coming from such a horrible family...her father was deeply abusive and obviously sick in the head, and the guilt she carries is heartbreaking.

Do you know if she has a fund set up for donations?

reply

It seems like we'll have to try and find out on our own. I just watched this about an hour ago. Her story broke my heart. But God bless her for what she does.

She has a Facebook page with all the info you need!!

Thank you, jlark73! Her story touched me too. I noticed how well-cared-for all of her dogs looked, even the older ones and amputees. She said that she felt her life meant something. I agree! But how sad that she punished herself for so many years and felt as a child that dogs had died because she had loved them.

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"
