Boy Was A Selfish Brat

OK, you have heard the call of nature and need to leave home and be a 'lone-wolf' for the rest of your life ... Fair enough. But how about saying something to your mother who single-handedly raised you for ten years. Not even a letter, a conversation, not a single word ... Just disappear, presumably leaving her to wonder what the hell happened to her son, left in the lurch for the rest of her life. Also, let's pick the most inconvenient and dangerous time possible ... In the middle of a giant storm, knowing (because you have abandoned her without saying anything) that she will follow you, probably get lost in the woods or get injured herself. Oh and your sister? Who gives a crap abut her, right?

reply

Well, yes your right it seams so, but at the same time its not completly true..

He regrets what he has done, saves his mother and says good-bye to her. Yes, when he runns up the mountain and howls, Hana understands compleatly what he wants to say to her.
And we never get to know if he never ever comes to visit them, so its possible he comes once a while, but not every day

reply

He had a human mother and sister that needed his help. A mother that devoted her whole life to them. He beats up his sister then abandons his mother in the middle of a giant storm and she almost dies trying to find him.
Selfish brat is right.

reply

No more selfish than a wolf. Remember, he embraced that side of himself.

Can't stop the signal.

reply

So?
Is that supposed to excuse him beating up his sister and abandoning his mother?

reply

He's a wolf. I don't hold a wolf to the same standard as a human.

And if he wasn't, he'd still be a child. Children fight and run away from home. It doesn't mean they're brats. They just haven't matured yet.

Can't stop the signal.

reply

No, it means they're brats. Children may fight, but a brother doesn't intentionally hurt his sister like that. And a child doesn't run away and abandon their parents unless they are complete brats.

And he's a human as well and had been raised as a human. He's not just a wolf.

reply

He was more wolf than child by that point.

And he's a human as well and had been raised as a human. He's not just a wolf.

That's not who he became. He embraced the wolf. At ten years old, he's already a full grown wolf. Those instincts became much more powerful than a child's learning.

Can't stop the signal.

reply

Doesn't matter? He's still her brother. He's still human and could talk and think and act like a human.

'Those instincts became much more powerful than a child's learning.'

Did they now? Didn't realise you knew human-wolf hybrids. The girl seemed to be able to balance them well enough. The boy was a little bastard.

reply

I don't need to know any hybrids. All I had to do was just pay attention to the movie.

You should try it.

reply

Late reply incoming so i know it might not get read but whatever.

His sister deserved to get beat up. She started a fight with him because she was taking her own problems out on him and he kicked her a$$. She was trying to be fully human but she was fighting someone who was more wolf, and lost.

I think the mother was being a bit more selfish by forcing him to stay int he first place. Although I understand why, she wasn't ready to let go. I think he knew that if he wanted to leave he had to do it without talking to her because she would have convinced him to stay again.

reply

As soon as someone says a girl 'deserved to get beat up' you know they are a god damn idiot.

So a PERSON who starts a fight doesn't deserve to get beat up because they just so happened to be born a certain gender? You think that a person is supposed to just curl up into a ball and allow themselves to get beat up based on gender? You sound like a freaking moron.

Last I checked, everyone has a right to defend themselves when attacked no matter what gender your attacker is.

I also think it's insulting to reduce the sister to her gender. She's a freaking Hybrid Wolf. She was fully capable of fighting and defending herself, which is why she began the fight by lunging at her brother. She turned a verbal fight into a physical one and lost, and yeah got what she deserved for escalating the fight. Big deal.

reply

As I recall he started that fight by tossing the table at his sister.

Going back to the thread topic, I was disappointed that AME was not willing to embrace his duality and sustain his human relationships. His Mum lost so much and gave up so much to raise her children. Would it really be such a hardship for him to turn human once a month and spend the day with his mother? I thought that was very cold hearted.

A lovely film in general though and it was quite comical how accurate the portrayal of children and school life was.

The romantic in me hoped that the mum would remarry though, especially as she had effectively lost both of her children.

Yeah, it is a shame he doesn't do that much. But, maybe he does? The movie didn't say he never visited her?...

Doubtful, after the hot wolf romance, I doubt any human man will be satisfactory for her anymore. Plus, there is that issue with explaining that her children are half wolf. >.>

You recall wrong. Not only did she start the verbal fight, but she also threw him an eraser and hit him first. I just watched it. And then she said: You wanna fight?

So, she started it. Also I think saying he beat her up is a bit too much. Both got hurt. But not too much. Just a little fight between siblings. Not a big deal.

reply

Yuki was definitely worse off. Unlike his sister, Ame had been embracing and learning more about his wolf side. She ran off injured. Ame was still ready to go another few rounds.

Let's be bad guys.

And he was just 10 year old, so don't expect him to be mature.

Completely agree. It's understandable Ame had to leave, but the way he did it just made him look extremely stupid and made him look about as unguardian-like as possible. Lord knows how he is going to manage that forest from now on...

Loved Yuki on the other hand. Wish we got to learn more about her adult life.
