Saw this movie, but couldnt understand why she dug another field, and helped her save from boar

The thing that saved her from the boar was her wolf children were marking their territory around her fields. The boar didn't go where the wolves lived.

Didn't Nirasaki force her to dig another field so she could swap foods with the neighbors/foster good neighborhood?
After she traded the first goods she said something like "Now I know why more field."
