I would not give it 10/10, but 8/10. But yes, the film was indeed brilliant. The mistake Esther made was she confronted the girl instead of reasoning with her coolly and calmly. If she had promised the girl a fabulous new life, she might have stood a chance of escape. But all she did was exacerbate Annie's antagonism towards the world at large.

I was surprised that the girl could apparently get away with anything without the authorities becoming involved, but maybe that's the way things are in America.
