I don't get it.

Sofia is a princess with a closet full of dresses, yet she wears the same dress everyday even to her ball. Her Mother, Step-Father, Step-Sister, and Step-Brother all wear something different to the ball at least. Why didn't they take the time to draw her with a different dress everyday and every event. What is with her constantly mispronouncing Mr. Cedric's name? Also, why does her Mother's dress have a big bow on the front? She looks like a little girl in that dress.

Why did Fred, Daphne, Shaggy and Velma always wear the same thing? or any other cartoon character for that matter?

reply

Agreed. She always wears the same thing. Same thing goes for most kid shows and none of them age!

The same clothes thing is standard in the industry and known as branding. Notice this not only in animated shows but live action shows of the past, i.e., Bonanza, The Munsters, etc. The logic being that you would know the character on sight.

The funniest thing about this is that most of the characters this occurs with are wealthy and could easily afford an extensive wardrobe.
