Glaring Plothole

LOL! Yes I'm analyzing a children's cartoon for disney jr! But you have to understand I've seen it unwillingly 15 times.

Here's my biggest beef with the plot: That special amulet that links "all the princesses that ever were" -- the King gave it to his step-daughter. So sweet. But why wasn't his own daughter special enough to get one? If it links ALLLL the princesses, shouldn't Amber have one too? But the way Cedric behaves, it appears Sofia's amulet is extra rare and unattainable. What's up with that, Royal Dad?

Amber didn't seem to need it as much. Also, Sofia was new to the family, and he wanted her to feel welcome, especially since she was feeling really down at the time. He also might not have thought it was actually magical. Amber herself probably has plenty of special necklaces and the like that were handed down through the royal family.

Amber would likely get cursed by the amulet.

If you watch the second movie special with Princess Ivy, you find out Roland had no idea it was a magical amulet. He just thought it was a nice gift to give to Sofia to make her feel welcome into the family.
