Ecological movle??

Watch through the end credits for the full message which is that the movie is somehow doing some ecological good by offsetting its carbon footprint by buying carbon credits. I like the idea and give them credit for the attempt, but I still can't see how it can claim to be green entertainment, which in the end is what it is. I mean they burn a furious amount of energy to make it, and I have to think that there are plenty of other ways to accomplish the same ends that would leave that energy for better use. By their own accounting, commercial air travel ate up most of it, so simply making the movie in only one or two of the more nearby locations would have made a huge difference. In a similar way I feel that argument applies to the general skiing population. These lifestyles are simply tough on the planet and it's a good thing that such a small fraction of the population can enjoy such extravagant lifestyles.

My feeling is that if you want to really make a substantial positive impact on the planet, just have one fewer child than you prefer, and you have my permission to go nuts with your hobbies. Or take half as many commercial flights as you'd prefer and enjoy your Hummer. Just don't imagine that 3 kids and a Prius makes you green.
