So Bill and Libby are trying to have children. But Bill is infertile and can't admit it so he continues to have his wife undergo various procedures and let her think she's barren?? Is this really happening? Or did I misunderstand? Because if it is, that character is completely irredeemable and I don't know if I could keep watching. Anyone?
shareIt is happening and yes, it's a pretty horrid thing to do to Libby. In the 1950's, medical ethics laws were incredibly lax compared to the strict laws of today and medical doctors were able to get away with an incredible amount without their patients knowledge (read, "The Immortal Life if Henrietta Lacks" for another horrible example).
While this makes Bill an incredibly unsympathetic character, I urge you to keep with the show. Lots of things happen.
