Tessa's reaction to Virginia's job

I am sure that the series writers studied very carefully the years the show is set in, but I find a bit strange the reaction that Tessa's classmates have about her mother's job as sexual researcher.
I mean, I think teens are more interested and intrigued about sex, rather than shocked and scandalized. Is it a realistic characterization?

It depends, this was back in the day. That's definitely something a kid could be mocked for, bc these are parents we're talking about lol. Plus they're the work successors of Kinsey, a disgusting slime. Have you seen all the episodes Tessa's been in?

reply

I've watched 3 episodes from 3rd season so far.

reply

Ok, thanks.

I'm not surprised at all and would even venture that teens in 2016 would react similar if they discovered that a classmates parent watched couples masturbate/have sex for a living. It's quite shocking to anyone's ears, but particular to immature, hormone-driven adolescents.
