Louisville looks nothing like the Big Sandy Valley.

The cast and crew stayed in Bardstown. A lot of it was actually shot out in the boonies, sometimes as far away as 2 hours from base camp. Most days there was no cell phone reception on set.

Part of it was filmed at my managers farm. His horse Rebel is in the movie

That is awesome!! I heard Rebel was very good - doing a dance while they were shooting. But he did not want to be left behind LOL. He would get loud if they didn't use him! He was a cool horse!!

The Costner version was only filmed in Romania due to costs, if the U.S gave better tax breaks more films would be filmed in the U.S.
