It makes more since to me that Amber would be the one to get the amulet Since Sofia is only a princess by marriage, but it was never explained why she has it. I figure Amber would have more to learn from using it and going on these special adventures since she has more flaws than Sofia.

shareThere's an episode where King Roland says he was looking for something special to give her and the amulet called out to him. There's another episode where Aunt Tilly takes her to this secret place that has something to do with the amulet, but I haven't seen the whole thing. There's something about special about Sofia that Amber doesn't have.
shareThe amulet also has a lot to do with the "Elena of Avalor" spinoff (which I also love by the way). It's called the Amulet of Avalor and it belonged to Elena first, and she got trapped inside of it when the evil sorceress tried to strike her down. They explain all that in the Sofia/Elena movie special, "Elena and the Secret of Avalor." We aren't told how the amulet got from Avalor to Enchancia, but it's revealed that Elena was the one who had been giving Sofia her special powers, preparing her to be the one who rescues Elena and helps her defeat the sorceress. She also says that she chose Sofia specifically and that she made the amulet glow when King Roland was in the jewel room looking for a gift for Sofia. After Elena is freed from the amulet, it turns pink, and at the end of the show she tells Sofia to keep it.
