Is TSoT a stand alone or in the continuity of the show?

I mean, are the events and character developements in the game, going to be a part of the SP universe now, when hte show comes back?

'cause we had changes and some surprises. It appears Clyde was killed off. And we find out where Mr. Hat has gone to (though none of the backstory is there). It appears one or two of the generaic background cops we usually see, are dead and eaten. There's trouble in Canada (maybe this will lead to an episode or two later in the new season). And unfortunately, short of some weird time travel episode, Chef has been finally put to bed.

And that's jsut the things I saw on one Youtube walkthrough. Who knows what else has happened when you explore the game more.

Have Trey or Matt said anything about whether the events are now part of the show's reality?

one of the few flaws in the game is the lack of replay value, there's few choices to make and none of consequence so the game will play out the same way in future playthroughs. while usually a huge negative point in an RPG it does make a lot of sense to do it this way in order to manage continuity between game and TV show. the show can safely reference the events of the game without contradicting any 'personal cannon'. this suggests to me that the events of the game will indeed be considered cannon, although events from the game will probably have little direct effect on the TV show since while most people who play the game will watch the show there'll be a lot of viewers who don't play the game

not a great deal happened in the game that would require any explanation if it does make its way into the show though. no named characters were killed off (Clyde didn't die and generic unnamed characters aren't going to need to be referenced), the damage is already being rebuilt and they can safely make references to there being a new kid without having to show him on screen or go into any detail about him, they can even mention that he's moved away again if they're not planning to bring him back for another game or just not mention him at all

as for Chef, it's odd that they brought him back as a zombie instead of Darth Chef but it didn't seem likely that he was going to show up in the TV show again

Actually, we didn't see the end result of Clyde's fall. IT had to be death. No other character has survive a fall from that height (four stories in this case), except Kenny, but that's because he simply can't die -- he just comes back.

(Which reminds me -- I wonder if we'll ever get an explination, since it now would require retconning, why Kennjy was absent for so long; where was he, what was he doing, during his extended death? There must be a story to tell there)

That was just a tree house, I don't think Clyde's dead.

reply

exactly. all the parts of their LARP game were exaggerated, much like they often are in the show. he fell from a tree house, something not likely to be fatal, but for the purposes of their game (not to be confused with our game which they're playing their game inside of) his character died, much like how he was banished from time and space but still standing there

Well, it wasn't exaggerated, we could clearly see, in proportion to the family house, that it was indeed four stories up.

I'm starting to suspect, based on little things here and there, this won't fall into the show's continuity, but I bet we get references to it later on.

I'm pretty sure the size of the treehouse was an exaggeration, although it wasn't confirmed

No, it wasn't exaggerated. We saw it more than once (twoering over the family house, too), it was four stories. We saw the character climb through all four stories. We saw the character fall down at least two of the stories.

It's four stories.

But that's the point, that was an exageration, just like the animations when the kids use their special aptitudes.

They based an entire episode around Timmy's taxi service. I thought that was a nice little tie-in to the game.
