Chet Could Be A Mean Bastardo As Well.

This was clearly omitted from the film. Watch the documentaries people. They will give you more insight into his true personality.

He could be very mean to those around him and very scary. Not always the cute little teddy bear as portrayed in the film. And yes, he could be that as well. Which makes him such a fascinating figure. However the film (consciously?) left that part of him out.

I think it touched on a lot of aspects of his personality-the close talking, the vulgarities of how he wanted to have sex with someone (Nah, I just want to f$*k), the anger, the neediness and the selfishness of him. They did leave a lot out, but there was only so much they could put in. To me, in my opinion, it felt like we just stepped into a segment of his life and watched for awhile and then we left.

I liked the movie. I have been a Chet Baker fan for years. Many, many years. It reminds me of The Temptations. David Ruffin was a complete ahole, but that was in his private life. Back then, not a lot of people knew until they started making movies about it and word started getting around. But in the long run, I separated the man from the music. His music and the music he made with the Temptations was great, his personal life was his personal life and none of my business.

I like to think of Chet in the same way. His personal life was just...whoa. But his music was so great. His personal life-not too much of my business. And I've watched the documentaries, read the articles, watched the videos, so I know. But I just like his music and not the person.

I mean I am not one to judge-but this is my opinion.

It was an interesting portrait of his behavioural style. I'm kinda glad there wasn't more scary stuff like violence and screaming. I don't know much about the guy, but I sensed from his relationship with the manager and general selfishness, not to mention addiction, that he's a user and didn't really respect others. His attitude toward his woman's career, not to mention his choice in the final scene make it pretty clear he's not a nice guy. But all that also leaves room for fools to romanticize him, as well, I'm sure.
